The Society of Authors is the UK trade union for all types of writers, illustrators and literary translators, at all stages of their careers. They have been advising individuals and speaking out for the profession for more than a century.
Authors really do have stories to tell, and with COVID-19 disrupting the globe from early 2020, the Society of Authors had to find a way to keep hosting their social which they did with several online events.
With some amazing footage recorded across the 2021 year, and a translation awards show to be remotely recorded and livestreamed, the challenge was a to find a way to compile all remote footage, keep it visually pleasing, coherent and consistent, to showcase to their online community, as well as using it as a marketing collateral to attract new memberships.
The outcome was producing and directing two standalone pieces of material: “SOA: Celebrating 2021” and “SOA Translation Prizes 2022” by doing this, we also devised a creative strategy of how to visualise their remote footage, creating a visual identity and style using an animated graphic of their logo, branded transitions and title cards, to be used for all future online content for social.
